Fellow IFC members:

I trust you have all seen the reminder sent yesterday suggesting that
you register for FLOW 2008 by the end of business next Friday (August
15th). After the 15th the Conference rates will increase from $350 to
$425.

As many of you are aware - and perhaps personally affected - many state
and provincial agency budgets are really tight this year and many are
finding it difficult to obtain full funding for travel to attend FLOW
2008 and the IFC Biennial meeting. With that in mind, we are asking as
many of you as possible that would otherwise require a single room at
the Conference Hotel (the El Tropicano) to register for a double room,
as the cost is the same. By offering to share your room with another
IFC member you could make the difference in getting a fellow IFC member
over the hump in terms of securing sufficient travel funds.

Related to this, IFC has limited funds that we are attempting to
allocate as best we can to those who have already sought travel
assistance in accordance with the IFC Travel grant policy. If we can
avoid using these funds for lodging, we can hopefully assist more of our
members to take part in FLOW 2008 and the Biennial Meeting.

Some of you have asked if you should rent a car at the San Antonio
airport. There is no need for this, as there are shuttle services
running between the airport and the downtown hotels. The rate is $32
round trip ($18 one way) . In addition, our local host (Kevin Mayes and
his colleagues from the Texas Department of Parks and Wildlife) has
graciously made arrangements for bus transportation to the off site
location where the first part of the Biennial meeting (Governing
Council meeting) will take place. Thanks Kevin! This first part will
begin mid afternoon on Thursday, October 9th. The second part of the
Governing Council meeting will be the next morning (Oct. 10) at the
conference Hotel. The ExCom meeting will follow lunch. More info on
these IFC functions will be provided at a later date.

The FLOW 2008 website is at the following site (see sub links for FLOW
2008 registration, Hotel registration and Airport Shuttle (this one is
under the Hotel link):

Don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions about FLOW 2008
or the Biennial meeting.

Thanks,
